The Colossus of Rhodes was a statue of the Greek titan-god Helios. It was created by Charles of Lindos in 280 BC and destroyed by an earthquake in 226 BC, and it was never rebuilt. It was created to celebrate Rhodes' victory over the ruler of Cyprus and stood about 108 feet high (about the height of the Statue of Liberty from the feet to the crown).

The Lighthouse of Alexandria was also called the Pharos of Alexandria. It was built between 280 and 247 BC by the Ptolemaic Kingdom. The Lighthouse of Alexandria was between 394 and 449 feet tall, but became badly damaged by 3 earthquakes between 956 and 1323 AD, and became an abandoned ruin. It was the third longest surviving ancient wonder, and for many centuries it was one of the tallest manmade structures in the world.
